AZEALEA & GREEN JACKET COCKTAILS
In honor of that little golf tournament in Augusta next week – The ‘unofficial’ start to the golf season – Here are recipes for two of the tournament’s favorite cocktails – The Azealea and The Green Jacket.
THE AZALEA (The unofficial cocktail of THE MASTERS)
2 oz high quality Vodka (may use Gin)
2 oz pineapple juice
1 oz lemon juice (NOT lemonade)
Spoonful of grenadine
Pour all ingredients into a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously. Pour through a strainer into a tall glass filled ½ way with clear ice. Garnish with a lemon peel – never an Azalea as they are toxic! ENJOY
THE GREEN JACKET
Not as well-known but equally refreshing.
2 oz Gin
1 oz fresh squeezed lime juice
1 oz simple syrup
½ oz green chartreuse liqueur
Fresh mint leaves
Club soda
First muddle a handful of fresh mint leaves in a cocktail shaker, then add in the gin, lime, simple syrup and green chartuese with ice. Shake vigorously until well combined and chilled – strain into a glass filled with fresh ice. Top with a splash of club soda and garnish with a mint sprig.
